Abstract

Spørsmålet om hvorvidt spedbarn har en preferanse for prososial over antisosial atferd er et omstridt tema innen det utviklingsteoretiske forskningsfeltet. Hamlin, Wynn og Bloom var i 2007 de første med bevis for at spedbarn gjør sosiale evalueringer helt ned i seks-måneders alder. Siden den gang har Hamlin og Wynn revidert og utvidet sitt eget studie en rekke ganger, samtidig som de har inspirert til en rekke replikasjonsforsøk. Forskningen domineres av tredjepersons studier med observasjon av moralske skuespill, hvor preferansen for den prososiale (eller antisosiale) aktøren måles ved manuell utvelgelse. Ved bruk av litteraturstudie som metode vil oppgaven gi en presentasjon og drøfting av eksperimenter som har undersøkt barns preferanse for prososial atferd ved hjelp av enkle sosiale scenarioer, inspirert av Hamlin og kollegaers opprinnelige studie fra 2007. Til tross for en rekke suksessfulle replikasjoner av de opprinnelige forskerne, har de samme funnene uteblitt når eksperimentet replikeres av andre. I oppgaven presenteres 6 eksperimenter som har funnet en preferanse for prososial atferd, hvorav 5 av dem er utført av Hamlin og Wynn selv. Årsakene til at eksperimentene viser seg å være vanskelig å replikere kan være sammensatt og et resultat av metodiske faktorer, og er ikke nødvendigvis et resultat av at preferansen for prososial atferd hos spedbarn ikke finnes.
