Trivsel i Kroppsøving

Abstract

Denne oppgaven handler om trivsel i kroppsøving. Kroppsøving er et fag som generelt er godt likt av elevene, men nyere rapporter forteller at opptil 30 % av elever enten ikke liker eller hater faget (Borgen & Lierhaug, 2012). Studiens formål var å undersøke hvilke psykologiske faktorer som påvirker elevenes trivsel i kroppsøvingsfaget. Studien baserer seg på en kvantitativ tilnærming der elever fra 1., 2. og 3. trinn ved en videregående skole gjennomførte en spørreundersøkelse (n=610). Studiens teorigrunnlag baserer seg på Martin Seligman (2011) sine begreper om positive relasjoner og prestasjon fra hans trivselsmodell, og de grunnleggende psykologiske behovene fra "Self-Determination Theory" utviklet av Deci & Ryan (1985). Studiens resultater viser at alle de teoretiske begrepene har en innvirkning på elevenes trivsel i kroppsøving. Prestasjon er den variabelen som innehar den desidert største forklaringskraften av alle de uavhengige variablene. Den multivariate analysen viser at det ikke er forskjell mellom gutter og jenters trivsel i kroppsøving. Dette strider imot tidligere forskning på feltet som viser at gutter generelt trives bedre i faget enn jenter. Det ble derimot funnet et samspillsledd mellom trivsel på trening og kjønn som viser at gutter opplever større virkning av trivsel på trening når det kommer til trivsel i faget. Med andre ord vil en gutt ofte trives bedre i faget enn en jente som trives like godt på trening. Studien reflekterer også på endringene de uavhengige variablene opplever fra en korrelasjonsanalyse til en multivariat analyse. Resultatene viser at variabler som autonomi og kompetanse svekkes, mens prestasjon, trivsel på trening og trivsel på skolen styrkes. Disse endringene attribueres til kjennetegnene ved kroppsøvingen. Fagets organisering tilrettelegger for økningen trivsel på trening og skole opplever, mens autonomi svekkes. Samtidig blir sammenligninger med idrettskonteksten brukt som forklaring på at prestasjon økes og kompetanse svekkes. I likhet med i idrett er det viktig i kroppsøvingen å vise at man er bedre enn medelevene gjennom konkurranse for å tilegne seg best mulig karakter.
