Forurensning i tunnelvaskevann – en studie av 34 veitunneler i Norge

Abstract

Vaskevannet fra tunnelrenhold har vist seg å være svært forurenset, men dette er i all hovedsak basert på studier av høytrafikkerte tunneler. I denne artikkelen presenterer vi den mest omfattende undersøkelsen av tunnelvaskevann i Norge hvor vi har inkludert tunneler med ulik trafikkmengde og lengde. Hele 34 tunneler ble undersøkt og resultatene viser at vaskevannet, uavhengig av trafikkmengde og lengde, var svært forurenset. Sammenlignet med forurenset overvann fra høytrafikkerte veier så er konsentrasjonene av forurensingsstoffer i tunnelvaskevann betydelig høyere. Utslipp av vaskevann vil kunne medføre overskridelser av grenseverdier og miljøkvalitetsstandarder. Rensing av tunnelvaskevann før utslipp til resipient bør derfor vurderes som obligatorisk ved planlegging og bygging av nye tunneler. Prediksjonsmodeller for partikler, kobber, sink og polysykliske aromatiske hydrokarboner basert på multippel lineær regresjon ble utarbeidet og kan benyttes som grove tilnærminger til å estimere forurensning i en gitt tunnel. Dette kan være nyttig ved planlegging og bygging av nye tunneler.
