Arbeid som en helsefremmende aktivitet

Abstract

Abstract Current research shows that many people suffering from mental illness want to work, but refrain from seeking employment due to low self believe in their own resources, stigma and doubts about actual possibilities for them in the labour market. Most people with mental illness are excluded from this arena. The purpose of this study to is to determine how members of the Fountain house experience their work at the Fountain house. Whether working at the fountain has any effect on experienced mental health. Metode: With regard to the research question, the qualitative research method was deemed most appropriate. Data was collected by interviewing 8 individuals. The Data was then analyzed by using Giorgis phenomenological method. Results: The work-oriented daily activity of the Fountain house was experienced to have a positive effect on the mental health of members. Several informants experienced a reduction in symptoms after becoming members. The Fountain house was also experienced as an important arena for establishing social relationship
