Un siglo de premios Nobel

Abstract

Trabajo homenaje a Alfred Bernhard Nobel con motivo de que en junio de 2000 se cumple una centuria de los premios que llevan su nombre. Surgieron como el último deseo del acaudalado sueco, inventor de la dinamita y que dejó toda su inmensa fortuna 'como legado a la humanidad'. Los premios Nobel, los más prestigiosos del mundo y considerados de máximo reconocimiento internacional que premia a una labor científica, económica o literaria, fueron creados para reconocer 'a aquellos individuos que han logrado un descubrimiento trascendental o la contribución más significativa en los campos de la Física, la Química y la Medicina en beneficio de la humanidad; que hayan destacado en la Literatura o en actividades humanitarias (premio Nobel de la Paz)'. Después de una introducción sobre estos premios se desarrollan una serie de apartados sobre: la personalidad de Alfred Nobel; su biografía; su legado, incluyendo el texto de su testamento; la Fundación Nobel; el proceso de selección de candidatos a los premios; la ceremonia de los premios; y 100 años de ganadores de los premios. Finalmente finaliza este trabajo con una serie de curiosidades relacionadas con los Premios Nobel acontecidas a lo largo de cien años.
