Memoria de trabajo viso-espacial y aptitud de visualización

Abstract

En la última década la memoria de trabajo se ha vinculado causalmente a las aptitudes de alto nivel, enfatizando el rol del procesamiento ejecutivo central. Se ha investigado la relación entre la agenda viso-espacial de la memoria de trabajo (Baddeley, 1986;Baddeley y Logie, 1999; Kiguem 1995) y el factor psicométrico de Visualización (Vz). En los primeros dos experimentos se explora un paradigma de memoria de trabajo diseñado para reflejar mecanismos del componente viso-espacial de la memoria de trabajo, diferenciándolo del componente verbal y del funcionamiento ejecutivo central. La retención a corto plazo de un polígono al azar fue perjudicada por una interferencia viso-espacial, pero no por una verbal, en el experimento 1; el experimento 2 halló un patrón de doble disociación entre los efectos de interferencias viso-espaciales y verbales respecto del recuerdo de un polígono y de una serie de dígitos. El experimento 3 mostró que los mecanismos de la agenda viso-espacial, tal como se reflejan en la tarea de memoria viso-espacial con interferencia de igual naturaleza, se asocian significativamente con el desempeño en test de Vz.
