Alexitimia en los trastornos alimentarios

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo fue contrastar las diferencias en el TAS-20 entre mujeres que presentan un trastorno alimentario con un grupo control. Se estudió una muestra de 142 mujeres que presentaban un trastorno alimentario según criterios diagnósticos del DSM-IV (APA, 1994)36 con anorexia nerviosa restrictiva, 30 con anorexia nerviosa bulímica y 76 con bulimia nerviosa, complementada con un grupo control (n=65) de similares características sociodemográficas fue evaluada con la Toranto Alexitymia Scale (TAS-20) y el Eating Attitude Test (EAT). La muestra recoge un 80,2 por ciento de estudiantes, de las cuales estudiaban bachiller un 40,1 por ciento y estudios universistarios el 30,9 por ciento. Los resultados indicaron que controlando el índice de masa corporal las pacientes con trastorno alimentario presentan puntuaciones mayores en el TAS-20 y sus factores 1 y 2, así como mayor procentaje de alixitímicas que el grupo control. Pero no encontramos diferencias entre los grupos de trastorno alimentario excepto en algunos ítems y el factor 1 del TAS-20. Nuestros resultados confirman estudios anteriores al mostrar una mayor frecuencia de alixitimia, especificamente la dificultad para procesar cognitivamente las emociones, en los trastornos alimentarios y la necesidad de incidir terapéuticamente en ese nivel.
