Abstract

Las Funciones Ejecutivas (FE) constituyen un importante constructo que ha cobrado especial interés. Por ello, se analiza el control inhibitorio y la flexibilidad mental en escolares de tres a seis años. Dicho estudio cobra un gran interés, si se tiene en cuenta que el autocontrol es un componente de la metacognición ligado al desarrollo del aprendizaje eficaz, lo cual puede ser especialmente relevante en contextos de desventaja social. Para la consecución del estudio, se diseñó un nuevo protocolo de evaluación, a partir de otros instrumentos ya validados. La muestra seleccionada fue de treinta sujetos con edades comprendidas entre tres y seis años, los cuales fueron evaluados dentro de su contexto educativo, durante un periodo de nueve semanas. Asimismo, los resultados obtenidos arrojan una fuerte correlación entre la edad de los sujetos y el nivel de desarrollo del autocontrol inhibitorio y la flexibilidad mental, pudiendo observar una notable maduración en el desarrollo de habilidades de autorregulación durante la última etapa de educación infantil, promovido por el desarrollo de estrategias de comprensión de “porque inhibir las conductas impulsivas” durante la anterior etapa, cuatro a cinco años.
