Investigación en autismo

Abstract

Expone una revisión de los trabajos de investigación que se han realizado e torno al autismo y se constata cómo a pesar de la relativa baja frecuencia del autismo en la población, sorprende la cantidad de estudios y el interés que genera. Según diferentes aportaciones la tasa de prevalencia del autismo en al población general es de 2 a 5 casos por 10.000. Según otros trabajos, si se incluyen casos de retraso mental con características autistas la cifra se eleva a 20 por 10.000, y si se diferencia por sexos el autismo parece ser más frecuente en niños que en niñas.
