Abstract

Se considera que el pastor evangelista suizo Walter Bion fundó en el verano de 1876, las llamadas colonias escolares de vacaciones. En el verano de 1887 Don Manuel B. Cossío organizaba la primera colonia escolar de vacaciones de España. Las colonias tenían una tradición pedagógica anterior. Tuvieron un enorme éxito durante la primera mitad del siglo XX. Se estudiar el origen de esas colonias y su establecimiento en España, dentro de su complejo contexto histórico.
