Abstract

Process for the production of nanoplate dispersions by the action of a cavitation field on alkaline aqueous suspensions of fine-powdered precursors formed of natural (graphite, C, molybdenite, MoS2, tungstenite, WS2) or synthetic (hexagonal boron nitride, h-BN, graphical carbon nitride, g-C3N4, ternary hexagonal boron and carbon nitrides, hBCN) by layered (lamellar) materials, for example in the presence of potassium permanganate. The mechanism of the process assumes the intercalation of layered materials with oxygen ,in situ´ released in alkaline environment from KMnO4 and subsequent exfoliation of such intercalated of materials by the cavitation field. The process proceeds, for example, in a pressurized batch reactor at temperatures of 60 to 95 ° C for at least 10 to 20 minutes. The resulting dispersion is purified by a dialysis process, the final product being a suspension in water.
