Microalgae are a rich source of bioactive compounds for pharmaceutical, cosmetic and nutritional purposes (w-3-unsaturated fatty acids, chlorophyll, carotenoids, etc.). Algae have been given considerable attention in the BIORAF project. Regarding algae cultivation, greatest costs are connected with nutrients and energy.
