Procesos cognitivos PASS en Síndrome de Asperger

Abstract

El presente estudio se ha llevado a cabo con la intención general de analizar si las personas con TEA presentan un nivel superior o igual en su procesamiento simultáneo comparado con un grupo de desarrollo típico. Para ello, se utilizó una muestra de 17 personas con Síndrome de Asperger divididas en dos subgrupos y un grupo de desarrollo típico de 17 estudiantes de educación primaria en centros ordinarios, del sistema educativo gallego. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron, el IDEA de Rivière y el Cognitive Assesment System (CAS), el la cual permite obtener un perfil cognitivo de un sujeto y analizar la presencia de las fortalezas y debilidades cognitivas en los cuatro procesos PASS (planificación, atención, simultáneo y sucesivo). Los resultados ponen de manifiesto que las puntuaciones medias de las escalas de los procesos PASS varían significativamente entre sí, ya que la puntuación del grupo SA alto en procesamiento simultáneo es superior al promedio, mientras que para el grupo SA bajo está en el promedio. La comparación entre el grupo SA bajo y el de desarrollo típico no produce diferencias estadísticamente significativas. En contraste, la comparación del grupo SA alto y el grupo control si produce diferencias estadísticamente significativas. SA alto se diferencia significativamente de ambos grupos situándose las puntuaciones de estos en el promedio. Estos resultados se interpretan en el sentido de que SA posee una fortaleza cognitiva en procesamiento Simultáneo, mayor en el grupo alto, mientras que en el grupo bajo sería una fortaleza relativa.
