Perfis afetivos e sintomatologia depressiva em adultos

Abstract

Objective: The aim of the study was to understand the relationship between affective profiles and depressive symptoms and to investigate the existence of disparities in depressive symptoms according to sociodemographic variables. Methodology: The data of this study were collected from 95 users of a Hospital Center in the North of the country (64 females and 29 males), integrated in the age group from 18 to 70 years old. For this collection, the Positive Affection and Negative Affection Scale (PANAS) were used, which allows the assessment of affective profiles, the DSM-5 Level 1 Cross-Symptom Self-Assessment Measure, which provides us with information about depressive symptoms, as well as a sociodemographic questionnaire, to collect information about the participants. It is a clinical sample in which the data were collected in a hospital context and were statistically analyzed using IBM SPSS. Results: The results show the existence of differences in terms of depressive symptoms due to the affective profiles, with participants with a self-fulfilling profile presenting significantly lower values of depressive symptoms than all other participants in the other affective profiles (self-destructive, low affective and high affective). In addition, differences were found in terms of depressive symptoms due to the education and gender, although these differences were only marginal significant. Conclusion: Thus, it is concluded that the affective profiles may be relevant to explain the variance in the depressive symptoms of individuals, allowing, thus, to develop an intervention of a preventive character.
