El testimonio de Rigoberta Menchú: estrategias discursivas de una subjetividad fronteriza

Abstract

El artículo analiza el discurso testimonial a la luz del texto "Me llamo Rigoberta Menchú y así me nació la conciencia". Con base en los estragos causados por el largo conflicto bélico en Guatemala, Rigoberta Menchú intenta reconstruir la memoria de su comunidad, y en el proceso enuncia los hechos desde una perspectiva que pone en tela de juicio las categorías de verdad que han sido impuestas desde el poder y legitimadas por el discurso académico. La emergencia de estrategias discursivas "otras" que permiten al sujeto subalterno fluctuar entre la adaptación y la resistencia al capitalismo mundial, posibilita que las comunidades que han sido por largo tiempo marginadas superen los paradigmas paternalistas y comiencen a hablar con voz propia. Así surge Rigoberta Menchú, quien ha sufrido en carne propia la exclusión en tanto indígena, campesina y mujer. Su capacidad de circular entre culturas da cuenta del surgimiento de sujetos fronterizos, quienes son capaces de revertir los procesos de homogeneización y fragmentación que afectan a su comunidad. Con ello no solo se configuran nuevas identidades, sino que además se reivindica el derecho a la diferencia como una forma de superar las relaciones de dominación/sujeción.
