Abstract

Es importante conocer los motivos de las personas para realizar actividades recreativas al aire libre, ya que estas son opciones que pueden ayudar a incrementar su nivel de actividad física y favorecer su calidad de vida. Entre los factores clave de la motivación para realizar estas actividades, las diferencias ligadas al sexo requieren más estudio en este ámbito. El metaanálisis puede dar luz sobre la importancia del efecto de este factor, para orientar futuros estudios y políticas de promoción de recreación y salud. Metodología: se realizó una búsqueda en bases de información científica (Pubmed, Dialnet, Google académico, EBSCOhost incluyendo: SPORTDiscus with Full Text y Academic Search Ultimate). Se buscó estudios de motivos de participación en actividades de recreación de aventura y que emplearan la Escala de Preferencia de Experiencia Recreativa (PER). Se encontraron 407 artículos, 330 se eliminaron por duplicidad o por no cumplir con criterios generales de inclusión, 62 estudios no cumplieron con los criterios específicos de elegibilidad, y 11 estudios se excluyeron al no presentar datos completos de las variables, quedando un total de 4 artículos elegibles. Se calculó el tamaño de efecto (TE) entre grupos (según sexo) para las variables dependientes. Los cálculos TE globales ponderados se realizaron con el modelo de efectos fijos. A pesar de la existencia de heterogeneidad en la mayoría de TE, no se pudieron realizar análisis de variables moderadoras, ya que los estudios no reportaban adecuadamente datos. Resultados: se encontró tamaños de efecto (TE) estadísticamente significativos (95% de confianza) de las diferencias de sexo, con magnitudes entre pequeñas y moderadas, en 5 dominios de la PER: seguridad social, motivo de aprendizaje o conocimiento, mejorar aptitud física, escape personal, disfrutar de la naturaleza.
