La primera dificultad cuando se trata de valorar el "costo social" de las políticas de ajuste tiene que ver con la manera de evaluar éstas. No existe consenso al respecto ni tampoco, por tanto, sobre los resultados positivos o negativos de este proceso de transformación económica. Esta dificultad se presenta tanto al intentar la evaluación del proceso en un país como el nuestro como cuando se avanza al plano comparativo entre países.
The first difficulty when it comes to assessing the "social cost" of adjustment policies has to do with how to evaluate them. There is no consensus on this, nor, therefore, on the positive or negative results of this process of economic transformation. This difficulty arises both when trying to evaluate the process in a country like ours and when advancing to the comparative level between countries.
