This article presents the results of a research project that studied leadership from the standpoint of the personal conceptions th at influence the behavior of local government leaders , as well as those conceptions desired to generate the social transformation processes required in communities . Qualitative methodology was used. C ate gories of analysis were created based on Pearson’s (1 992) model of psychological archetypes. A relevant finding was the limited advance shown by interviewe es regarding self - knowledge and a fragmented visi on between the observer and the observe e , which hinders their ability to take on the challenges that curr ent reality demands from them
Se expone los resultados de una investigación cuyo propósito fue estudiar el liderazgo, a partir de las concepciones personales que influyen en las conductas de las y los dirigentes de gobiernos locales, así como aquellas deseadas, para generar los procesos de transformación social requerido en las comunidades. La metodología es de corte cualitativo. Las categorías de análisis se construyeron con base en el modelo de psicología arquetípica propuesta por Pearson (1992). Un resultado relevante obtenido es el poco avance en procesos de autoconocimiento, visión fragmentada entre observador y observado, que les dificulta asumir los retos que la realidad presente demanda.
