To try to answer from the economic point of view why international trade is unfair, it is necessary to review the most relevant models of international trade in the classical, standard economy and its most important variants, to enable an approach to the reality of trade between countries of high income and low income, in the context of the current international division of labor and limitations on free trade. Subsequently, the fair trade alternative is proposed as a partial possibility for our small and medium farmers. Trade constitutes one of the central aspects for development theory, due to the historically increasing importance of trade flows and their impact on the growth and development of countries that specialize their production and participate in the international division of labor.
