Alexitimia: implicación de las funciones ejecutivas

Abstract

La alexitimia es un rasgo que se caracteriza por la dificultad de identificar y expresar emociones, así como la constricción en los procesos simbólicos, expresada a través de una reducida capacidad de imaginación y fantasía. Frecuentemente, se ha relacionado la alexitimia con las deficiencias de las funciones ejecutivas. Sin embargo, no está claro qué componentes de dichas funciones se encuentran más relacionados con la alexitimia. Por lo tanto, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo identificar la relación entre la alexitimia y los componentes de la función ejecutiva. Se administró la Escala Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) y el Inventario de síntomas prefrontales (ISP-20) a 102 participantes jóvenes y universitarios. El modelo resultó explicar el 37% de la varianza de la alexitimia. La variable que más aportó fue Control emocional, Control ejecutivo y Motivac ión. En consonancia con otras investigaciones nuestros datos apoyan la idea de que las funciones ejecutivas son clave para explicar la alexitimia. Para futuras investigaciones, sería interesante dilucidar cuál es la influencia conjunta de la alexitimia con variables como dificultad para expresar emociones, capacidad de fantasía o capacidad para describir sentimientos.
