Music and Physical Education are closely connected in both the curriculum and the educational practice via rhythm and movement. Experiencing music through movement and the body helps children to understand, discover, and express musical processes in a deeper way. And conversely, music (and rhythm specifically) is a privileged tool for the development of motor skills and the motor system. This chapter offers insights into the relation between music, movement and rhythm, and argues that a better understanding of this entanglement will improve teaching practices in Early Childhood Education.
