Abstract

This working paper provides an overview of the state of participatory plant breeding (PPB). PPB involves various stakeholders in the process of plant breeding, which most often allows farmers input into the plant breeding process generally controlled by formal intuitions. Topics addressed include: empowerment, applications, supporting contexts, obstacles, and next steps for PPB. Links to PPB information are also provided.
