Abstract

The Snow Leopard Enterprises project by International Snow Leopard Trust is working to protect endangered snow leopards in Asia. Local participants are required to sign an agreement which commits them to specific conservation actions and prevents their killing of snow leopards in retaliation for domestic livestock losses or other reasons. In return, Snow Leopard Enterprises purchases products from the participants at an increased rate than they would otherwise able to sell to local wool traders. If at the end of the year the participating community has complied with the conservation agreement, they will get a additional 20% bonus. However, any violation will result of a loss of the bonus for everyone.
