A joint venture of Cultural Survival and Rainforest Crunch enterprises (one of Ben and Jerry's projects) uses environmentally responsible harvesting of rainforest nuts to reinvest in the community. Companies that buy these nuts pay a 5% "environmental" premium over the going market rate for the nuts. As a result, some producers use that additional money to improve the conditions (both social and environmental) in their community.
