La hipoacusia infantil

Infant Hearing Loss

La hipoacusia infantil

Abstract

There are almost 32 millions of children in the world who suffer from infant hearing loss caused by different reasons. Due to this reality, lots of researchers have made studies to prove that repercussions of the audition deficit decrease if diagnosis is done at an early age. During the time between the third and the sixth month of life, the human being reaches his highest level of brain plasticity. Is in this period of time when diagnosis should be carried out in order to organize an effective intervention. If we do this in a right way, following recommendations of the Early Detection of Infant Hearing Loss Committee (CODEPEH), we will make possible that the child acquires his highest linguistic and communicative level. The whole process from the neonatal screening until the hearing loss treatment, including the deaf child rehabilitation, must be carried out by different professionals. There are many treatment methods and various educative options for this kind of children, but there are also many professionals who work for it, having the nursing ones a very important role in the process.
