Moldavos en Cantabria: proceso migratorio y sistema educativo.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The migration of citizens from Eastern Europe to Spain began to experience an incessant growth during the first decade of the XIX century. This paper, specifically, aims to analyze the case of Moldovans. It begins with an introduction of the phenomenon of migration in our societies, up to analyze the migration of citizens from Eastern Europe to Spain, and specifically to Cantabria. Later, the most relevant data obtained from interviews with several residents in Santander Moldovan migrants are interpreted. This data respond to the four key elements selected for this socio-demographic research: what is the demographic profile of the Moldovans who emigrate to Spain; how their migration process develops –since they take the decision to emigrate until they arrive to Santander–; how is their life like in Spain; and finally, what are their expectations and opinions about the Spanish educational system.
