ABSTRACT: The current document offers a general analysis about the existing relationship between the Emperor Trajan and the Hispanic Provinces. Firstly, it examines the different theories about the origin of that Emperor through the analysis of the historical sources. Then, there is a list of the Hispanic circle that was surrounding Trajan, both in the administrative area and in the militar one. Also, the testimonies that demonstrate the councillor activity that Trajan carried out in the Hispanic provinces are gathered in this research. Finally, the sculptural and the epigraphic testimonies that were found in the Hispanic provinces in honour of the Emperor, are collected and interpreted. It concludes with some personal contributions in the form of conclusions. The target of the current project is to stablish an updated point of view about that relationship and to review the most important aspects.

El presente trabajo ofrece un análisis general de la relación existente entre el emperador Trajano y las provincias hispanas. Se examina, en primer lugar, las diferentes teorías sobre el origen de este emperador a través del análisis de las fuentes históricas. A continuación, se enumera el círculo hispánico que rodeaba a Trajano tanto en el ámbito administrativo como en el militar y se recogen los testimonios que evidencian la actividad edilicia de Trajano en las provincias hispanas. Finalmente, se recogen e interpretan los testimonios escultóricos y epigráficos hallados en las provincias hispanas en honor al emperador Trajano y se concluye con la aportación personal de unas sólidas conclusiones globales. El objetivo del presente trabajo es proponer una visión actualizada de esta relación y de repasar sus aspectos más sobresalientes.
