Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study aims to answer the question what is the role of reading in the teaching units? In order to do that, we have analyzed a group in the second year of primary school, more specific we focus in the file of Science. Three didactic units used in three different trimesters have been chosen. It can be seen that all the texts have the function to develop a topic, i.e. creating knowledge. Another analysis of the activities that accompany the texts is also provided and the answers given by the students are analyzed as well, paying attention to the demands requested to the students when solving such activities. As a result of the text analysis it has been obtained that understanding is treated in a superficial way. The results obtained provide a partial reflection of how reading is treated in the classroom.
