El nuevo Cid. Espartero, María Cristina y el primer liberalismo español (1834-1840)

Abstract

ABSTRACT: "El nuevo Cid, Espartero, María Cristina y el primer liberalismo español" is the story of how Espartero became the first authority of Spain, the reasons of that elevation, the effect in the governments he had to live with, the attempts of the principal parties to incorporate him to their political projects, the nature of these projects, his relationship with the Queen María Cristina of Bourbon, and the role of both during the summer of 1840 and the revolution that put an end to it. This revolution was the highlight of his life: he became the new Spanish Regent and María Cristina went to the exile.
