RESUMEN: Este trabajo pretende exponer la importancia del turismo religioso en el ámbito de la comunidad de Cantabria en cuanto a historia y devoción se refiere y reflejado en el número de visitantes. Para ello se ha realizado un viaje a través del tiempo destacando los lugares y monumentos más relevantes de cada época que se han explotado turísticamente en mayor o menor medida. Para facilitar la localización de los distintos monumentos y santuarios se ha realizado un mapa temático en el que se señalan los distintos puntos de interés a visitar en la comunidad. Todo ello siguiendo un criterio cronológico con diferentes colores para cada periodo histórico. A través del análisis de los diferentes monumentos, se pretende dar a conocer la importancia que la religión ha tenido en la comunidad y la trascendencia turística y económica que tienen sus manifestaciones, sobretodos arquitectónicas, como producto potencialmente consumible por el turista.

ABSTRACT: This work aims to highlight the importance of religious tourism in Cantabria with respect to history and devotion. Its relevance in this region is demonstrated by a vast number of visitors. In this regard, the most relevant places and monuments of each historical period, exploited to a certain extent for tourism, have been chosen. In order to facilitate the location of different monuments and sanctuaries, a thematic map has been created. It shows the different areas of interest of the region. This map follows a chronological order, so a specific colour has been used to distinguish each historical period. By analysing the different monuments, one aims to stress the importance that religion has had in Cantabria and the touristic and economic significance of its manifestations, specially the architectural ones, viewed as a potentially consumable product for the tourists.
