Abstract

his Trabajo Fin de Máster is raised with the aim of analyzing the problematic generated in the Spanish succession dispute of the beginning of the 18th century around the fidelity of Castilian subjects to the monarch Philip V. Castile remained formally loyal to the Bourbon king during the Succession War with the Hapsburgs of Wien. However, in their social set there was since before the start of the conflict, tensions and dissensions which in some cases supposed an open breakdown of the fidelity agreement with the French monarch. This TFM is interested, firstly, to characterize these positions specifically in Castilian case, with their principal protagonists, that could be included in what historiography has defined laxly such as austracismo. From there, we analyze the social control mechanisms driven by Bourbonics to foment and to guarantee the loyalty of subjects and, particularly, those employees to detect and to repress any political dissidence sign, that could be treated as a crime of lesa majestad.
