Abstract

RESUMEN: El vino de Rioja no sólo es un elemento icónico de la comunidad autónoma de La Rioja, sino también una de sus principales fuentes de riqueza. Sin embargo, esta situación podría revertirse como consecuencia del cambio climático antrópico. Para anticipar esas consecuencias, este Trabajo de Fin de Grado analiza la evolución climática reciente (1950-2018) de la región y su efecto sobre el vino de Rioja. Durante el periodo de análisis, la evolución climática regional ha experimentado un incremento de las temperaturas, más acusado en las mínimas nocturnas estivales, y una reducción de los excedentes hídricos. Como consecuencia, los vinos de Rioja poseen un mayor contenido alcohólico y una menor acidez, mientras los ciclos fenológicos de la uva se han adelantado. Esta evolución, que está en consonancia con los escenarios de cambio climático propuestos para la Península Ibérica, supone un desafío para el futuro de esta agroindustria, por lo que también se revisan sus posibles consecuencias y las medidas propuestas para mitigarlas.

ABSTRACT: Rioja wine is not only an icon for La Rioja, but also one of the main sources of wealth. However, this situation might reverse as a result of the effects of anthropogenic climate change. In order to advance their consequences, this dissertation analyzes the recent climatic evolution (1950-2018) of the region and its possible effect on Rioja wines. During the period of analysis, the regional climatic evolution has experienced an increase in temperature, more pronounced in the summer nocturnal minima, and a reduction in water resources. Today, Rioja wines show a higher alcohol content and lower acidity, while the timing of phenological cycles of the grapes have advanced. This evolution, which is in line with the climate change scenarios proposed for the Iberian Peninsula, represents a challenge for the future of this agro-industry, whose consequences and mitigation measured are also reviewed.
