ABSTRACT: This research analysis the impact of technical inefficiency in different sectors within the OECD countries, including Spain and throughout Europe. In the first chapter the methodology of technical efficiency is detailed using two statistical frameworks; maximum likelihood estimation and Bayesian inference. The second chapter analysis the contribution of information technologies in the OECD countries, and ICT implementation and technological innovation. The third chapter shows the determinants that affect the technical efficiency in the rail, maritime, road and air transport sector. The fourth chapter uses Bayesian methodology to analysis the textile industry in Spain. Finally, the fifth chapter analysis the automotive industry in Spain, a study by autonomous communities to highlight the industry from a business synergies perspective.
