RESUMEN: El trastorno por déficit de atención e hiperactividad (TDAH) ha sido uno de los trastornos más estudiados en las últimas décadas, y es, actualmente, uno de los trastornos más comúnmente diagnosticados a niños y adolescentes. En este trabajo se recogen diversos aspectos de dicho trastorno; se realiza una recopilación de la historia de lo que, en la actualidad, se conoce como TDAH y se estudian distintos aspectos del trastorno (definición, características, etiología, diagnóstico, presentaciones clínicas, prevalencia, comorbilidad y tratamiento). Además, puesto que el TDAH implica necesidades específicas en el aprendizaje que, si no son atendidas pueden tener como consecuencia el fracaso escolar, se expondrán intervenciones educativas que pueden llevarse a cabo para ayudar a los alumnos diagnosticados de este trastorno
ABSTRACT: The attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has been one of the most studied disorders during the last decades and, nowadays, children and teenagers are commonly diagnosed as having it. In this master´s degree paper, a collection of several aspects of this disorder is done (definition, characteristics, etiology, diagnosis, presentations, prevalence, comorbidity and treatment). Furthermore, ADHD involves specific necesities in the learning that can imply school failure if they are not treated, so it will be presented some educational strategies that can be carried out in order to help pupils who have been diagnosed as having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
