Economic and financial analysis of textile sector
Authors: Grosu, Daniela;

Análisis económico financiero del sector textil

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this article is to analyze the evolution of the Spanish textile sector and determine the current situation in this sector in the world. This industry in Spain had a fluctuating trajectory with low numbers until 2013, but from this period it can be seen that there is an increase in this activity. This growth is a good indicator for the Spanish economy, despite the high level of competition that can be found internationally. Similarly, the European Union seeks to create more textile factories on European territory, so that Europe becomes the world leader in this sector. For the economic and financial analysis of the textile industry, a specific sector was first selected on the page National Classification of Economic Activities (CNAE), which in this case was selected "Retail trade in textiles in specialized institutions". Subsequently, a sample of 200 national companies was extracted from the SABI database. The sample contained different income and loss account data and a balance sheet for all companies between 2013 and 2015 (both inclusive). From the example we proceeded to short-term and long-term analysis, as well as to the analysis of results and profitability. One of the conclusions made after studying the textile sector is that in Spain it is constantly developing and has good opportunities to become an international reference in the fashion sector. However, in order to be an example for other countries, companies that have indicators such as immediate liquidity or low financial autonomy, and negative net benefits, should include changes in both the management policy and the financing of the company thus a prosperous textile industry will be ensured .
