Abstract

RESUMEN: El objetivo del presente estudio es relacionar Patrimonio Arquitectónico, Patrimonio Natural y Literatura a través de un caso concreto en una localidad en la comarca del Saja en Cantabria, Mazcuerras. Tanto la escritora Concha Espina como Josefina Aldecoa tuvieron vinculación con esta localidad y en sus escritos aparecen reflejados sus jardines. Sin embargo y dadas las limitaciones de un trabajo de este tipo, nos centraremos en un elemento destacado de la localidad, la casa y el jardín de la finca “El Palacio de Las Magnolias”. Construida por Pedro Fernández Campa, a finales del siglo XIX. Figura destacada en la localidad, indiano, diputado provincial, propietario de la mina “La Paulina” y relacionado con el Marqués de Comillas. Una parte del estudio abordará el objetivo de la construcción de la finca, su financiación, su estilo arquitectónico, además del uso de la casa por la familia Fernández Campa como sus primeros propietarios. El jardín que rodea la casa tomará protagonismo en nuestro trabajo, identificaremos las distintas especies vegetales y elementos arquitectónicos presentes en la actualidad, además del diseño del mismo. El conjunto fue un referente en la época, con especies importadas del extranjero y un diseño innovador en la región. La literatura forma parte fundamental en la finca por su relación con los habitantes de la misma, destacando a Josefina Aldecoa, que pasó largas temporadas en la casa y escribió un libro basado en la misma: “La Enredadera”. Abordaremos el estudio del libro de manera minuciosa dándonos cuenta de la relación existente entre la novela, la casa, el jardín y su historia. Una última parte del estudio vinculará la literatura con otros autores residentes en Mazcuerras, como Concha Espina o Matilde de la Torre y su relación con el territorio y la historia de la localidad. Detallaremos una serie de acciones para poner en valor la relación entre este patrimonio natural, arquitectónico y literario.

ABSTRACT: The objective of the present study is to relate Architectural Heritage, Natural Heritage and Literature through a specific case in a locality in the region of the Saja in Cantabria, Mazcuerras. Both the writer Concha Espina and Josefina Aldecoa were linked to this locality and in their writings are reflected their gardens. However, given the limitations of such work, we will focus on an outstanding element of the locality, the house and the garden of the estate "The Palace of the Magnolias". Built by Pedro Fernández Campa at the end of the 19th century. A prominent figure in the locality, Indian, provincial deputy, owner of the mine "La Paulina" and related to the Marquis de Comillas. A part of the study will address the goal of building the estate, its financing, its architectural style, and the use of the house by the family Fernández Campa as its first owners. The garden surrounding the house will take center stage in our work, we will identify the different plant species and architectural elements present today, as well as the design of the same. The set was a reference at the time, with species imported from abroad and an innovative design in the region. Literature is a fundamental part of the farm because of its relationship with the inhabitants of the same, highlighting Josefina Aldecoa, who spent long periods in the house and wrote a book based on it: "La Enredadera" We will approach the study of the way book Meticulous account of the relationship between the novel, the house, the garden and its history. A final part of the study will link the literature with other authors residing in Mazcuerras, such as Concha Espina or Matilde de la Torre and its relation with the territory and the history of the locality. We will detail a series of actions to value the relationship between this natural, architectural and literary heritage.
