RESUMEN La sociedad actual evoluciona hacia una forma de vida en la que los ciudadanos comienzan a preocuparse más por su salud, en concreto, por el origen y la producción de los alimentos. Todo ello, llega a las escuelas en el momento de mayor innovación y búsqueda de recursos didácticos en el entorno. De este modo, la naturaleza, y en concreto el huerto escolar es aprovechado por las escuelas para educar a los más pequeños en hábitos alimenticios y fomentar el compromiso de estos con el medio ambiente. El huerto escolar es el mejor recurso para emplear un aprendizaje manipulativo y por descubrimiento, estableciendo relaciones entre los contenidos del libro de texto y la realidad en la que nos encontramos.
ABSTRACT The current society is evolving towards a way of life in which citizens become more concerned about their health, in particular, about the origin and production of food. All of this, comes to schools at the same time of the best innovation and search for didactic resources in the environment. So, nature and in particular the school’s garden is used by schools to teach the youngest in eating habits and encourage the commitment of them with the environment. The school garden is the best resource in order to use manipulative learning and discovery, establishing relationships between the contents of the textbook and the reality in which we are in.
