Nurses, as health agents and stereotypes and gender roles victims, should not be unaware of this reality and must integrate gender perspective in order to offer equal and high quality care. To this end, we study current state of the gender approach in higher education and research, and delineate the role of the profession at the educational, research and clinical practice levels.
