Abstract

ABSTRACT: Despite the great progress that women have experienced in education and training, there has not been an eradication in the differences between men and women in the labour market. The tendency for women to concentrate in specific jobs is one of the ain reasons for inequality and as such, the objective of this undergraduate thesis is to try to know what the situation of women is in the current labour market in Cantabria through a comparative analysis with other communities and on a national level. Specifically the characteristics of each labour market are studied in addition the percentage of people employed who should change their jobs in order to achive an equal distribution between men and women. We will explore one of the main consequences of occupational segregation by gender. We will explore the consequences of occupational segregation by gender-related wage gap by occupations and sectors. We can conclude that currently, there are still difficulties for women when ir comes to taking art in the labour market and getting a job with good conditions due to the fact that their training and qualifications are deemed inferior to those of men.
