El aprovechamiento de residuos alimenticios se ha convertido en una prioridad debido a su impacto negativo en el medio ambiente, ya que la gestión inadecuada de estos desechos contribuye significativamente a la generación de residuos sólidos y emisiones contaminantes, exacerbando los problemas ambientales globales. A la par, el sector textil enfrenta importantes desafíos en términos de sostenibilidad, ya que es responsable de una porción considerable de las emisiones globales de gases de efecto invernadero, así como del uso intensivo de recursos naturales y productos químicos que afectan tanto al medio ambiente como a la salud humana. Es por eso por lo que la formulación de un espesante textil ecológico a partir del almidón extraído de la semilla de aguacate se presenta como la solución central de este proyecto. Esta propuesta aborda de manera integrada los dos problemas clave: el desperdicio alimentario, mediante la reutilización de frutos de aguacate que no cumplen con los estándares de calidad del mercado, y la reducción del impacto ambiental de los procesos textiles. El almidón que se obtiene a partir de la semilla de aguacate ofrece una alternativa innovadora y sostenible, capaz de disminuir la dependencia de agentes sintéticos y contribuir a un modelo más responsable para ambas industrias.

The use of food waste has become a priority due to its negative impact on the environment, as inadequate management of this waste significantly contributes to the generation of solid waste and pollutant emissions, exacerbating global environmental problems. At the same time, the textile sector faces major sustainability challenges, as it is responsible for a considerable share of global greenhouse gas emissions, as well as the intensive use of natural resources and chemicals that affect both the environment and human health. For this reason, the formulation of an eco-friendly textile thickener from starch extracted from avocado seeds is presented as the central solution of this project. This proposal addresses two key issues in an integrated manner: food waste, by reusing avocados that do not meet market quality standards, and the reduction of the environmental impact of textile processes. The starch obtained from avocado seeds offers an innovative and sustainable alternative capable of reducing dependence on synthetic agents and contributing to a more responsible model for both industries.
