Validation of the Purpose in Life Test (PIL TEST- PURPOSE IN LIFE TEST) for Colombia

Abstract

The Purpose in Life Test (PIL -Purpose in Life- Test, Crumbaughr and Maholick, 1964) is a measurement of the meaning of life that has been widely researched. However, in Latin America However, in Latin America very few tests have been validated to measure the meaning of life, therefore, this research seeks to validate it for Colombia, This research seeks to validate it for Colombia based on a three-factor model (Goals in Life, Satisfaction with Life, Satisfaction with satisfaction with life and sense of accomplishment). This model was compared with those proposed by the by the original authors of the test, the model of Morgan and Farisides (2009) and the model of Dufton and Perlman (1986). The study was carried out with a sample of 798 people, where the results show that the proposed three-factor show that the proposed three-factor structure has greater clinical and theoretical utility.

El Test de Propósito Vital (PIL –Purpose in Life- Test, Crumbaughr y Maholick, 1964), es una medición del sentido de vida que cuenta con amplias investigaciones. Sin embargo, en Latinoamérica son muy pocas las pruebas que han sido validadas que permitan medir el sentido de vida, por ello, esta investigación busca validarla para Colombia a partir de un modelo de tres factores (Metas en la vida, Satisfaccion con la vida y Sensacion de logro). Se comparó este modelo con los propuestos por los autores originales de la prueba, el modelo de Morgan y Farisides (2009) y el modelo de Dufton y Perlman (1986). Se hizo el estudio con una muestra de 798 personas, donde los resultados muestran que la estructura propuesta de tres factores posee una utilidad clínica y teórica mayor
