Abstract

Wine went from untattainable in the eighties to commonplace in the new millenium for the average consumer in China.The early nineties stand as the turning point as handreds of millions of consumers could finally afford to buy a bottle even if it represented a luxury for most. The number of wineries and vineyards, of importers and distributors, grew and both wine production and consumption saw double-digit annual increases over the past fifteen years. During the past thirty years of economic reform in China, the Country's wine professional and customers have increasingly become involved in the global discussion on wine. This Dictionary includes five languages and covers the main terms in the fields of viticulture, enology and wine tasting.
