Abstract

Cosa ci rende felici, cosa ci fa stare bene e come possiamo definire il benessere? In questi ultimi venti anni all’interno della psicologia è maturata la consapevolezza della necessità di occuparsi della definizione di benessere e di individuare i fattori e i comportamenti che possono migliorare la qualità della nostra vita. Questo è il compito della psicologia positiva, orientata sia allo studio dei fattori che influenzano il benessere soggettivo (Seligman e Csikszentmihalyi, 2000) sia al potenziamento delle capacità e delle risorse individuali, quali l’ottimismo, la saggezza, la resilienza. Nel capitolo verranno presentate le ricerche e gli ambiti di studio della psicologia positiva; verranno poi considerate le relazioni tra stress e coping e le strategie atte a potenziare la capacità di fronteggiare lo stress; infine si analizzeranno i fattori psicologici che correlano benessere e salute.
