Literatura e historia en Guatemala

Abstract

Después de una breve disertación teórica sobre las relaciones entre literatura e historia, el artículo examina dos momentos de la literatura guatemalteca: la revolución de 1944 y la guerra interna 1960-1996. Para el primero, refiere cómo la obra comprometida de Asturias y de Cardoza y Aragón han sido esenciales para entender la verdadera historia del país, e insiste en la idea de que ambos han influido en los intelectuales de las generaciones sucesivas. Para el segundo, examina la obra de Rigoberta Menchú y su colocación en el umbral entre historia y literatura y las implicaciones teóricas derivantes. Termina justificando la elección de una literatura comprometida en sociedades fuertemente clasistas.

Dopo una breve dissertazione teorica sui rapporti tra letteratura e storia, l’articolo esamina due momenti della letteratura guatemalteca: la rivoluzione del 1944 e la guerra interna 1960-1996. Per il primo, riferisce come l’opera impegnata di Asturias e di Cardoza e Aragón sono state essenziali per capire la vera storia del paese, e insiste nell’idea che hanno influito nella formazione degli intellettuali delle generazioni successive. Per il secondo, esamina l’opera di Rigoberta Menchú e la sua collocazione nella soglia fra storia e letteratura, e le implicazioni teoriche derivanti. Finalizza giustificando la scelta di una letteratura impegnata in società fortemente classiste.
