Il monachesimo nell’Italia altomedievale

Authors: Archetti G;

Il monachesimo nell’Italia altomedievale

Abstract

The essay investigates the early medieval monastic structures with particular attention to the area of the Lombard territory, in relation both to the origins and oriental influences and to the diffusion of the Benedictine rule, to the founding work of bishops, sovereigns and noble aristocracy, to the great Carolingian transformations and to the expansion of the monks of Cluny. Some insights concern the Roman influence in the process of renewal of monasticism, the spread of the practice of oblation, the work of "discipline" started with the synod of Aachen and its implementation in some monasteries in the panorama of European ecclesiastical institutions.
