La pratica della scrittura collettiva, nella Scuola di Barbiana, nasce dalla consapevolezza che scrivere è un’arte che può essere appresa e che scrivere in gruppo permette più facilmente di raggiungere quella capacità espressiva e quella ricerca del modo più efficace di esprimersi. In questa prospettiva l’arte dello scrivere è vista come un atto d’amore che nasce dal desiderio di cercar la verità. Per questo a partire dagli anni Sessanta don Lorenzo Milani incomincia a sperimentare un metodo originale di scrittura collettiva che verrà impiegato per scrivere documenti importanti come ad esempio la famosa Lettera a una professoressa.

The art of writing can be learned, and writing in a group can aid the search for, and achie- vement of, such expressive capacity. Such a view grounds the practice of collective writing in the school of Barbiana, where writing is also seen as an act of love pouring from the desire for truth. In the ’60 don Lorenzo Milani begins experimenting the original method for collective writing which will be used to compose important documents such as the famous Letter to a Teacher (Lettera a una professoressa).
