Implementação do YouTube no ensino de teoria e análise musical: potencialidades e desafios

Abstract

This document is divided into two parts: Educational Project and Supervised Teaching Practice report. The first part explores the use of YouTube videos as a teaching tool in Music Theory and Analysis (TAM), aiming to assess both the potential benefits and challenges of this strategy within the teaching-learning process. The methodology involved implementing selected videos in TAM classes with a secondary education class in a professional music school, considering different categories of use – content review, audiovisual resource, and content learning. Data was collected through two questionnaires to evaluate students' perceptions, and results were analyzed using content analysis methods. The findings suggest that YouTube has strong potential as an educational tool, particularly as a complement to direct teacher instruction. However, the effective use of these videos requires careful curation and strategic integration into the curriculum, with an emphasis on fostering active learning. The second part presents the Supervised Teaching Practice experience, conducted during the 2022/23 academic year at Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho.
