Este trabalho teve como objectivo analisar a inovação vocabular operada por Mia Couto dentro da própria Língua Portuguesa, sem que fossem postas em causa quaisquer regras ou normas do processo de formação de palavras. Foinos permitido constatar que Mia Couto demonstra ser um profundo conhecedor da Língua Portuguesa e, vivendo em Moçambique, aproveita-se dela para dar a conhecer uma cultura tradicionalmente oral, à qual ele tenta manter-se fiel, mesmo no seu processo de escrita. Percebemos inúmeras versatilidades e combinações da Língua, muitas das quais talvez nunca nos tivessem antes ocorrido, em todos os processos de criação vocabular que reconhecemos e analisámos (tanto de Derivação como de Composição). A par desta análise Linguística, procurou-se ter em conta e salientar, a importância de escrita na cultura Moçambicana, uma vez que esta se centra na transmissão de saberes essencialmente por via oral. Concatenando estas duas ideias, em que uma cultura se serve de uma outra para se dar a conhecer, foi-nos possível analisar a riqueza expressiva da linguagem Mia Coutiana, pela forma original como é “inventada” e “recriada”, essencialmente no processo de formação de palavras por amálgama. Palavras nas quais reconhecemos os constituintes, mas que se encontram combinadas de forma particularmente criativa e original. Este torna-se um processo vigoroso, uma vez que não é frequente na Língua Portuguesa, mas é esta condensação de significados, que permite transmitir a forma de sentir, viver e pensar de uma outra cultura. É, para nós, a forma mais clara de expressar sentimentos, definir atitudes e acções, aplicando o princípio da economia Linguística. Apesar deste ser já um trabalho de recolha exaustiva de vocabulário (brin)criado por Mia Couto, mostra-se necessária uma continuidade, estudando outras obras do Autor, noutras perspectivas de análise Linguística e Literária

The objective of this work is to analyse the word innovation by Mia Couto in the Portuguese Language, without questioning any rules or norms in the process of word formation. We could realise that Mia Couto proves to have a deep knowledge of Portuguese Language and, living in Mozambique, he takes advantage of that to reveal a culture which is traditionally oral, and to which he tries to remain faithful, even in its process of writing. We notice several versatilities and combinations of the Language, perhaps many of which had never occurred before, in all the vocabular creation processes that we recognised and analysed (both in Derivation and Composition). Besides the linguistic analysis, we tried to point out the importance of writing in the culture of Mozambique, because the oral transmission is essential. Joining these two ideas, where a culture uses another to make itself known, it was possible to analyse the expressive wealth of Mia Couto’s language, by the original way as it is invented and recreated, essentially in the process of word formation trough blending. Words which constituents we recognised but that are combined in particularly creative and original way. This becomes a significant process, since it is not frequent in the Portuguese Language, but it is this condensation of meanings that allows to know the way of feeling, living and thinking of another culture. It is, for us, the clearest way to express feelings, to define attitudes and actions, applying the principle of linguistic economy. In spite of already being a work of an exhaustive collection of the vocabulary created by Mia Couto, a continuation of this study appears to be necessary, by studying other works of the Author, with other perspectives of Linguistic and Literary analysis.
