Inteligência e insucesso escolar

Abstract

Neste estudo, encontrámos um Q.I.

This research study had as main objective to characterize the performance of subscales of the WISC-III as a method of analysis of the cognitive profile of children and adolescents with school failure. We assessed 48 children referred by learning disabilities and/or disruptive behaviors at school, being the 28 males and 21 female, with ages covered between 6 and 16 years and 11 months. The Scale of Intelligence for Children – 3rd Edition (WISC-III), was applied to evaluate the cognitive functions and for comparison of socio-economic level was applaied the query of the Graffar index. In this study, we found a Total IQ of 82.73% and a verbal IQ that presents higher then Realization IQ (84.85% vs 84.77%). Comparing the Factorials indexes, the processing speed index is the highest value presented and the Verbal comprehension Index presents the lowest value. This study made it possible to have a better understanding of school failure issue, learning disabilities and cognitive limitations that are associated.
