Abstract

Durante largo tiempo, la música vocal compuesta en Costa Rica ha permanecido arrinconada en gavetas, lo cual la ha hecho inaccesible a intérpretes, y por ende, desconocida en el medio musical. ¡Es necesario editar las obras del quehacer creativo de los compositores costarricenses, como un primer paso para su conocimiento, divulgación, comprensión y disfrute! La presente antología va al encuentro de esa necesidad de ofrecer una muestra representativa de la canción artística costarricense. El proceso histórico-cultural de este género musical floreció a finales del siglo pasado mediante la obra de Alejandro Monestel, y ha continuado hasta la época actual, con la de Julio Fonseca, Dolores Castegnaro, Julio Mata, Félix Mata, Rocío Sanz, Ricardo Ulloa, Benjamín Gutiérrez y Luis Diego Herra. Hay que aclaran sin embargo, que esta lista no es exhaustiva. Muchos compositores no pudieron ser incluidos en esta edición por diversas razones, aunque sabemos que han trabajado con éste género.
